The property owners, residents of Virginia, have owned 120 acres including 3/4 mile of Big Hole river frontage since 1999. When choosing a site to build a home they chose not to build on the banks of the river but opted for a site on a south facing hill overlooking the river, ponds and cottonwood groves. Wishing to fit with the semi arid landscape they choose a design reminiscent of the mining buildings typical to the area. Dan Harding of Intrinsic Design developed the initial concept of the house which features inverted bridge trusses and heavy bracketry. Recycled wood and heavy timbers contribute to the look of a vintage structure.

The owners worked with Vigilante Construction to make design choices of materials, windows and all interior details. The owner's creativity and a good working relationship with the builder resulted in careful attention to details producing a spectacular custom home. At 2000 Square Feet, the home is compact and energy efficient yet capable of hosting gatherings comfortably.
